Colonia del Sacramento
Colonia del Sacramento, locally known as Colonia,is the capital of the department of Colonia, in the southwest of Uruguay.
It is located in the northern stream at the left of de la Plata river,177 kilometres from Montevideo.
Due to its proximity with Buenos Aires (Argentina), many visitors arrive from this city by boat to walk around its narrow cobblestone streets that remind us of viceroyalty times. For its unusual urban planning it has been declared Historical World Heritage by UNESCO.
The bullring, abandoned over time, is other of the attractions that visitors cannot miss.
